My New Record Player

Is not new. It's an old, scratched up Optimus LAB-1100 that Noury and I found while hunting around the Collingswood Flea Market (which was really awesome, and I must spend more time at in the future.

We came across a merchant with a charming Irish accent who sold me the player in question for $5. Seriously, at that price I couldn't possibly refuse it.

It sounds great plugged into the TV with RCA cables, but I'd like to get a legit receiver/speaker setup in my room.

My only complaint: the player actually plays a bit too fast. 33 rpm records play at around 37. It doesn't make anything unlistenable, but if you're used to the song in its normal speed this might bug you. I'm gonna try to get that fixed. There is also no default setting for 10", so you have to manually drop the needle for that particular size.

But for $5, this was probably the best buy I ever made.

Run Rabbit Run sounds absolutely great through my TV, and the sound gets better as the volume gets louder. So that's cool.
